Having stripes or bands on your nails does not necessarily mean you have cancer. However, a rare inherited condition called BAP1 tumor predisposition syndrome, linked to specific benign nail tumors named onychopapillomas, may increase cancer risk. These nails show colored bands and thickening, often with other personal or family cancer history. Routine nail checks can aid early detection and genetic testing for better management.
